Odin was the god of war, poetry, wisdom, and death. He gathered his portion of the slain warriors in Valhalla. He had a spear, Grungir, that never missed. Odin was accompanied by two ravens who informed him of the doings of the gods, giants, dwarves, and men. He lost his eye in exchange for a drink from a sacred well full of knowledge and learned songs and runes by hanging onto Yggdrasil for nine days. At Ragnarok, Odin dies while fighting Fenrir.
